B.Sc (Computer Science)

The Department of Computer Science was established in the year 1992 with the objective of affording quality education in the field of Computer Science. The Department has modern facilities for teaching and learning. It offers a wide brigade of research opportunities and programs of study at undergraduate and post graduate level since its establishment. It has been not only offering quality education but also meeting the need of time by imparting the updated and latest practical knowledge regarding the computer science and information technology.
The department of Computer Science is one of the growing departments, which has witnessed well equipped separate computing labs for undergraduate and post graduate students. The guidance and cooperation of the experienced faculty members is one of the attracting features of the department, which enlivens the students to stretch their wings. So that they can fly higher than their dreams and serve the country. The students graduating from this department get placement in the leading IT industries.

M.Sc (Computer Science)

The department started M.Sc Computer Science Program in the year 2019. Department of computer science witnesses a major breakthrough with the introduction of M.Sc (Computer Science) with the aim to develop core competence in Computer Science and prepare the students to carry out development work, as well as to take up challenges in research. In order to provide an opportunity to the young and enthusiastic IT professionals to walk the extra mile, which makes a vital difference toward the ongoing IT research and development. A new program M.Sc (Computer Science) has been introduced to train and produce experts in the area of recent trends of Computer Technology.
The teachers, while fulfilling their academic commitments without any prejudice, pursue their research along side; publish research articles in journals, in addition to attending seminars, conferences, etc.

Department of Computer Applications

The Department of Computer Applications was established in the year 2003. It has adequate laboratory infrastructure to conduct UG programme with unlimited internet and LAN connections. It has a bunch of qualified faculties with updated subject knowledge; the department library has around hundred books for circulation among students and staff. Students of this department have participated in various national level competitions and won awards. Many students got placements in MNCs like Wipro, HCL, TCS, etc. Nearly 50% of the students keep pursing higher studies regularly. The department has conducted a National level Conference, recently. Near 30 colleges participated in the event. Students of this department do attend seminars, workshops outside, in order to keep themselves updated, competitive and employable.
This department functions on the principle of responsibility and team-work with feedback oriented performance and appraisal of the teachers. Nurturing attitude of the management paved way for the faculty members to enhance their academic qualifications and capabilities during the last seven years. More emphasis is given to teaching – learning process.

Under Graduate Lab :

The Undergraduate lab have 44 computers with Turbo C, C++ Compilers, JAVA Compiler, Visual Studio 2008, Visual Basic 6.0, ORACLE, Python and MS office Packages. This lab aims at providing knowledge about the Database Environment. The Students are made familiar with Oracle Software and Visual Basic.Net etc.

Post Graduate Lab :

P.G Lab is equipped with 20 LAN connected computers with high speed Internet connectivity. The software used in this lab are C++, Java, Visual studio, SQL Server and MS Project. Both the labs are equipped with Laser Printers, LCD Projectors, Routers and Switches etc.

Department Library :

The library serves as a central organ of academic activity in the Department. The Department has a rich & vast collection of more than 100 books (including reference books) for the staff members and the students.

ICT Facilities :

Department of Computer Science is fully technology enabled. There is high speed Internet Connection and Wi– Fi connection available for the staff and students. The Department Laboratory is equipped with LCD Projector is well utilised for teaching – learning purposes.

Our Department “TEKNE ENCLAVE ASSOCIATION” cordially organizes various Inter & Intra Collegiate Competitions. The Departmental Activities are:

  • Inter Departmental Technical Competition, “Google Search” held in July 2019.
  • Orientation Program in Tamil, “Maanavargal Manathu Vaithal” held in August 2019.
  • Inter Departmental Event, “Photomural” held in August 2019.
  • Inter Departmental Competition, “Typing Skills Master” held in December 2019.
  • Technical Seminar on the topic: “Internet of Things (IoT)” by 360DigiTMG held in December 2019.

List of events organized during the year 2020.

  • Inter Departmental Quiz competition, “BRAIN BUSTER” held in February 2020.
  • Intra Department Technical Seminar, on “Python Programming” conducted by “Cyber Soft Solution” was held in February 2020.
  • Departmental “Academic Year Ending Association Function” held in March 2020 and distributed prizes for all the competitions conducted till the date.
  • Inter Collegiate Quiz Competition on PYTHON Programming Language was conducted in May 2020. 566 participants registered and 177 participants were awarded with e-certificates scored 75% and above.
  • Webinar on “Gesture Recognition based Air Writing using Open CV was conducted by Pantech E-Learning held in May 2020.
  • National level Technical Online Quiz – NTA NET (paper II) was conducted in April 2020, 274 participants registered and 140 participants were awarded with e-certificates scored 70% and above.
  • National level Technical Online Quiz – NTA NET (paper I) was conducted in June 2020. 365 participants registered and 147 participants were awarded with e- certificates scored 70% and above.

  • V.Ramesh, Assistant Professor and Dr.C. Parthasarathy, Assistant Professor S.C.S.V.M.V University served as Resource Persons for the Webinar on the Topic “Reinforcement Learning” in September 2021.
  • E. Manigandan, Assistant Professor, YRC District Organizer, Kanchipuram served as Resource Person for the Webinar on “Yoga – Boosting Our Immunity” in September 2021.
